That first story looks an awful lot like John Severin in places. I usually think of Gray Morrow as aligned with Al Williamson and Angelo Torres and such, but, of course, art styles evolve.
Story-wise I'm less than enthused by the tale's approval of brain-washing. I found the idea chilling when I read THE DEMOLISHED MAN by Alfred Bester, and that's without the further associations with A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.
I've also got to say I'm surprised at the forgiving attitude towards desertion, something that's usually not given such a pass in comics of the period. Post-code namby-pambism, I say. Good art, though.
This was an early Gray Morrow so his art did evolve but I love John Severin's art too. Angelo Torres really did some great work for WWarren Comics a few years later and then became a Mort Drucker clone for Mad Magazine..,
