If you think about it too much, it's a little off-putting thinking about prospective parents choosing adoptive children like a new puppy dog or kitty cat, but otherwise it's a sweet story and Ditko did a great job with it. The first page obviously has a striking image with the Mysterious Stranger posed dramatically against the mountain range, but I also like the little detail in the offset panel of all the children smilingly facing the headmistress except little Susi subtly turned away.

ReplyDeleteThis was a great eary Ditko Tale. He did some fine work for Charlton in the 50's. A true creative and professional artist
