  1. Was The Midnight Philosopher a recurring feature? I seem to recall the Professor and Arachne a few times waaaay back in the day.

Can someone help me track down a story? I would swear it was from a Charlton book--perhaps Dr. Graves? Anyway, the story goes like so: A circus lion-tamer has an increasingly violent feud with the show's "devil cat," a one-eyed lion. Finally, at night with no one else around, he faces off against the cat in the big center-ring cage, with a weird outcome: the lion is dead, but decked out in the tamer's clothes, while the tamer strides towards the reader with orange fur, bared fangs...and one eye blind. Man, that last image gave me such great nightmares as a kid...

  2. If not amazing, they were three decent stories. Tom Sutton and Wayne Howard did good jobs on the art--I like that elephant in the second non-framing story--and Rich Larson did a decent job as well: all three producing uniquely stylized art.

  4. I was never a big fan of Wayne Howard but I agree with your assessment of the tales. I enjoyed the Sutton art best.
