I like the Dr. Spektor stuff, including the offhand touches of using the psychic and inspector characters without too much introductory fanfare: I like that sense of the characters inhabiting a bigger world. The inclusion of a superhero was odd though well-done. He would stand out from the other characters in this feature, but he isn't really less plausible than the monsters they face.
On the other hand, it is a little hard to take Dr. Specktor's frequent sexism and racial insensitivity. It does help a bit that Lakota calls him on the former, but unfortunately she never says anything about the latter. 'Pocahontos'... oh, boy...
However, Jesse Santos did a great job on the art and took advantage of the flying monster to use some unusual angles to make some dramatic images.
Love Jesse Santos art. He was my favorite of all the Filipino artists back in the 70's and I don't believe he worked for Marvel or DC. Don Glut was a good writer and he did a decent job on Dr. Spektor. I believe he is still scripting comics today for The Creeps magazine.

Superhero, demon, renamed Necronomicon, action, shape shifting, they threw everything into this comic book stew, but it still tasted delicious!
ReplyDeleteGreat find as always!
