I agree, this is nice work from the then Barry--not yet Windsor--Smith. Nice, TRIPPY art.
It's also nice work from the wildly inconsistent Mr. Colletta. He did truly atrocious inking over Kirby on FANTASTIC FOUR and then ended up doing quite lovely work over Kirby on THOR. At least until taking a break & coming back to do more lousy inking at the end of Kirby's run. Colletta was more consistently good on romance to my own limited knowledge, including some stunningly stuff for Charlton.
Yeah Colletta could be a hack. He could do some nice work occasionally but he usually was pretty bad. He inked some nice Alex Toth romance tales but not such a good inker for Matt Baker.
"They say that evil can possess a place" such as the House of Usher or the house from The Rats in the Walls, among others. Interesting way how victims of the house turned into trees, windows, mirrors, statues, mini gargoyles, etc.
A different twist on the haunted house genre. Thanks for the haunting post.

Yeah its a weird tale with nice Barry Smith art. More greatness from the 70's.
