  1. I really enjoyed the Grandenetti and Ploog stories.

The Grandenetti one was a bit text-heavy/dialog-heavy at times and its twist a bit of a foregone conclusion, but Grandenetti made the trip worth going on. The full-page panel at the end was a particularly nice choice, I think.

The Ploog one was nicely done as well, of course, but I was also strongly struck with the feeling that Gardener Fox was channelling Clark Ashton Smith... minus the creepy sexual preferences Smith's sorcerers often have. As bad as the girl's fate, it was often kinkier in Smith stories.

  2. Actually bough this issue as a kid back in the old days. The Ploog story was really outstanding. He was doing a lot of great work for the Marvel Horror titles around the same time..
