A lot of these "supernatural" DC stories during this time period were weird. They'd start off fantastical but then go off on a "Scooby Doo" esque ending in which the supernatural part was only a scheme to catch a criminal or a crazy scheme cooked up by a criminal. This one is fun though.
I'm pretty sure it did. Most comics that originally dealt with horror and the supernatural drifted more into the realm of science fiction because they could no longer use vampires and werewolves.Sometimes the supernatural would be involved--but in other ways that were less spooky.

Yeah I wonder if it had anything to do with the comics code and all that mess that happened in the 50's.
