There is something special about ghost stories that deal with the sea or the ocean. I guess it has to do with the sea or ocean itself, the lure, the mystery of the waters that cover our earth, the legends of ghost ships and the Flying Dutchman, the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, the Bermuda Triangle and the like.
At night, the sea or ocean seems like one big haunted realm where anything you could imagine could be seen or heard, where the unexplained is the norm. Even in the daytime strange things are sometimes seen on, in or over the water, but such sites are rarely reported for fear of ridicule.
Great comment I totally agree! Drink Deep is a favorite of mine because this issue of Creepy was one of the first I ever owned. I believe I got from a relative that was getting rid of their comics back in the late 60's. I always loved John Severin's art on this tale too. Very moody.
