Alex Nino can really do weird, unforgettable imagery, though sometimes he goes a bit too far, much to the detriment to the story. Too much art is as bad as too much special effects in movies or TV, it looks cool but the story suffers for it. In this case there are only small doses of Nino wild art, enough to get the job done and enhance the storytelling.

Yes his art can overpower a story. He is an incredible designer and his work is distinctive and that can overpower a story no doubt.
